New Mosquito Control Products
As the mosquitoes get ready for another blood-thirsty season, new mosquito killers have been making their appearance on supermarket shelves to arm us against the threat of West Nile Virus and other mosquito-born viruses.
In an attempt to attract, trap and kill those pesky mosquitoes, new anti-mosquito products have begun appearing on shelves, so many in fact that consumers are becoming overwhelmed and confused with fears concerning West Nile Virus.
Gaining much attention this season are mosquito traps such as the Mosquito Deleto, as well as mosquito repellents containing the chemical picaridin or the natural oil of lemon eucalyptus. New findings made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have scientists now claiming that repellents containing the chemical picaridin or the natural oil of lemon eucalyptus will offer long-lasting protection against mosquito bites.
Did You Know?
Most mosquitoes live and feed within 1 mile of their breeding ground.
Previously, the CDC claimed that our best protection against mosquito bites and West Nile-carrying mosquitoes could only be found in mosquito repellents containing the well-touted chemical DEET. Although mosquito repellants with DEET continue to remain at the top of the Center's mosquito protection list, mosquito repellents containing picaridin (of similar concentrations to DEET) offer parallel protection; while those with natural oil of lemon eucalyptus are being compared to low-concentration DEET repellents.
